Trying Street Photography in NYC

On the New Year’s Eve, I had an opportunity to try street photography for the first time in the heart of New York City. Daddy’s friend, Michael, who is a professional photographer and educator, kindly took us on a photo walk around Midtown Manhattan, starting near Bryant Park and ending at Grand Central Station. It was an eye-opening experience and I learned so much about this fast-paced and dynamic genre of photography.

Chuang Yen Monastery: One Year Later

This past Labor Day Weekend, I found myself once again at Chuang Yen Monastery. Unlike my previous visit, this time I arrived at the tail end of summer, late in the afternoon. The monastery was already closed to the public by the time we arrived, but this worked in our favor. The lack of tourists transformed the space into a sanctuary of stillness, leaving only nature, the stone paths, and the whisper of the trees to accompany us.

Duke’s Farm

During a nice warm weekend, me, my parents, and our friends, spent the day at Duke’s Farm! It’s a fully natural place filled with historical barns, flowers, and nature of course! A truly beautiful place to capture real moments. We wandered around spotting barns and plants that we’ve never seen. An amazing experience!

Capturing Serenity and Culture: My Day at Chuang Yen Monastery

This summer has been filled with so many reel moments, each snapshot echoing the warmth and vibrancy of the season. On August 19th, my family and I decided to spend the day at Chuang Yen Monastery, an oasis of tranquility nestled amidst the natural beauty of New York. I had my trusty Nikon F3 by my side, along with the Nikkor-ais 35mm f2 lens, ready to capture the charm and spirit of the place.

This visit was extra special. Not just because of the location, but because Daddy let me shoot with his favorite film – the Kodak Porta 400. I had always heard him rave about its warm and exquisite color tones. Now, I got the chance to experience it myself.

1st Roll Of Film

I'm super excited to tell you about my first time ever shooting a roll of film with my new Nikon F3HP camera! My dad gave it to me as a gift, and I think it's so cool. It's a really fancy camera that were used by professional photographers back in the old days. There are lots of dials and switches, and it's a bit confusing for me, so my dad helped me with the settings. I just focused on choosing what to take pictures of and how to frame the scene. So, don't be surprised if some of my photos are a little out of focus or not perfectly exposed. I'm still learning! 😊

I've always loved taking pictures, and my dad has been my biggest supporter, encouraging me to capture as many memories as possible. He noticed my growing interest in photography with real cameras, where I could manually control all the settings by myself. That's when he decided to introduce me to the incredible world of film photography with this legendary camera.
